My wife and I have been thinking about Youth Festival for over 10 years. It is planned to be an annual event and possibly a tour. I am looking for “youth friendly” investors and ideas for YOUTH FESTIVAL 2010 http://www.myspace.com/raylovett. A lot of people are interested in what I am doing and many of the potential investors either want controlling interest or want to change what I have started. I am flattered by the huge response, but I am not interested in profiteering off of children. This is not the purpose for this event.
We both know many kids go running full speed into the music industry with their eyes closed oblivious to some of the management and talent agent scum waiting to promise the moon. Plus, I am not a preacher or psychologist, but some of the music being promoted today belongs in the bedroom if not the trash can and I am not comfortable with my own 8 grandchildren listening to this crap. Personally I believe some of this music is having a huge adverse effect upon children, adults and society as a whole.
Granted I am not trying to take on the music industry and I do believe in freedom of speech, but I also believe it is my responsible as a member of this industry to do my part to counter the bad with good.
This festival is an opportunity of veteran musicians that “have been there, done that” to mentor our future generation of musicians with a series of open, honest and real discussions back stage about the good, the bad, and the ugly of the music industry and then all have fun performing together on 4 different stages over 3 days.
A percentage of proceeds are supporting community youth centers in Colorado because many of these youth hang outs are being closed because of budget cuts, and MORNING STAR http://www.vocolorado.org/Testimonials.php. Morning Star is a 501(c) (3) non profit organized by Pastor Albert Loma, Victory Outreach Colorado Springs http://www.vocolorado.org/ and is one of the best Christian home school opportunities for youngsters in the State of Colorado.
